I thought you might be interested to hear that last week a steam Loco in the UK was run on the mainline at >100mph (162 km/t). This was a test to see if all was OK. Given that so many normal passenger trains run at 125mph in the UK if you want to run a steam train you have to either stop a lot of times to get out of the way OR, run a lot faster than the current maximum of 75mph. So, it seems that Tornado has set the path for other steam trains to also run very fast on the mainlines. Here's one newspaper article about it.
