14.07.2006 14:05 Esa Leskinen: That UIC-code (33 RIV, 70 BR) is interesting. Does it mean that these waggons can also run on the continent?
14.07.2006 16:53 Nick Johnson: thats pretty unlikely - at the time of BR's privatisation there was no channel tunnel and it was very rare for wagons like this to be transported across the channel by boat!
15.07.2006 10:16 Nick Johnson: on my recent belgium trip I passed a long line of cargo trucks marked with italian markings, I guess they send normal cargo through the chunnel frequently as well as loading up actual channel tunnel trains with trucks on the flatbeds.
11.11.2009 20:01 Tuukka Ryyppö: I would guess that BR is just an abbreviation that one of the companies has inherited from British Railways. The UIC info has probably appeared when they started its service.
